Anthracosis is incredibly common in forensic pathology, because it seems like many people still smoke. You can get some anthracosis living in the city, but smokers have pronounced anthracosis. Macrophages ingest carbon pigment hang out in the interstititum. Anthracotic pigment is black, as opposed to hemosiderin pigment which is more brown.
