Cystic vascular spaces are filled with blood. The lining composed of glomus cells is fairly sparse compared to the highly cellular glomus tumor.
The glomus cells are monotonous, round and bland.
Glomangioma is variant of glomus tumor in which there is a predominance of vessels and fewer glomus cells. Glomus tumors present as painful nodules on the fingers, and glomangiomas are larger and usually less painful. Glomangiomas are also less circumscribed compared to glomus tumors (Rapini, Busam).
