CASE BACKGROUND
20 year old female presenting with a left ovarian tube mass.
IMMATURE TERATOMA WITH GLIOMATOSIS PERITONEI
Immature teratomas are graded based on the amount of immature epithelium, which is usually immature neuroepithelium, but can be of other derivatives as in this case. The negative staining for GFAP and NSE and positive staining for WT1 favors the diagnosis of immature renal epithelium. The omental nodules, however, were immunoreactive for GFAP, thus consistent with gliomatosis peritonei.
