IMAGE DESCRIPTIONS
Case 1, image 1: This was a 28 year old woman who died of meningitis. She was an inmate and complained of neck, back and abdominal pain prior to death. Cultures were positive for Staphylococcus aureus. She also had pneumonia, and it is likely that the pneumonia was the source of the meningitis.
Case 1, image 2: Note the robust inflammation within the meninges.
